Proficiency & Endorsements

Once you get your license, it is important to keep your skills sharp. Revisiting old knowledge, as well as receiving additional training when flying new types of aircraft, are an integral part of being pilot in command.

Instrument Proficiency Course

If your instrument currency has lapsed, we will work collaboratively with you to get you proficient once again. We offer a thorough and professional Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) that is a combination of ground instruction, simulator instruction, and flight time. The amount of training required to successfully complete the IPC will vary based on the amount of time since your currency lapsed, and your level of instrument proficiency.  We believe it is imperative to thoroughly work with students to ensure that not only are they once again current, but also that their proficiency and confidence has been reestablished, as that is an integral part of safely flying in instrument conditions.

Flight Review

To ensure safety throughout the aviation community, it is required that all pilots complete a flight review at least once every two years in order to maintain the currency of their pilot certificate. Air Fleet offers a flight review course that consists of at least two (2) hours of ground school to validate that a pilot can safely be in command of an aircraft, followed by at least two (2) hours of flight.  In the case of those pilots who have not flown in an extended period of time, or whose proficiency is not sufficient, we will work with you to help you achieve the required level of proficiency to safely be in command of an aircraft.

High Performance Endorsement

Once you achieve your Private Pilot Certificate, your license will say the words “Airplane Single Engine Land.” Does this mean you can fly any land based single engine airplane? No, it does not. If your plane has an engine that puts out over 200 horsepower, it is considered a high performance aircraft. High performance aircraft are not so different that they require additional certification to fly, but they do require additional training. The high performance endosement is proficiency based, meaning that the length of time depends on your skill level. Though both flight, and classroom training, our CFIs will familiarize you with the differences of these plane, and prepare you to fly them for yourself.

Complex Endorsement

Does your plane have retractable gear, a constant speed propeller, or movable flaps? You may have flown a plane with one or two of those features, but if you want to fly a plane with all three, you need a complex aircraft endorsement. Complex aircraft are not so different that they require additional certification to fly, but they do require additional training. The complex endorsement is proficiency based, meaning that the length of time depends on your skill level. Though both flight, and classroom training, our CFIs will familiarize you with the differences of these plane, and prepare you to fly them for yourself.
